Sweet potato quiche, apple cider muffins, pumpkin bread and spiced cinnamon coffee – AUTUMN IS HERE!! It’s my favorite time of year! (‘not to mention my 60th birthday happens soon). I turned off the AC today and opened all the windows. It was such a liberating feeling! The leaves (and squirrels), though, are giving a hint that winter is not far away.
As I write this blog, I am putting on the final touches to the inn, as we prepare to welcome guests for Ohio University Parents Weekend. And with a record-breaking freshman class this year, the community is both anxious and excited about welcoming everyone to our tiny burg. I’m sure many families are preparing to make cherished memories.
Personally, I recall most of my own cherished memories taking place during the autumn season. From hayrides to fall retreats, marching band and pumpkin festivals. There is just something about gathering together (and cuddling up) with folks sharing a common goal.
At Deer Ridge B & B, the fall foliage is promising to be breathtaking this year. We already have some guests signed up for the Hocking Valley Railroad fall foliage tour. Another group is enjoying the colors on the Windy 9 with their motorcycles. Our peak is suppose to occur the end of October just in time for Halloween. And don’t forget the ghost tours! The Moonville Tunnel has already started their ‘ghostly walks’. I can just imagine the memories being made!

If Covid has taught us anything, it is that we need to take advantage of the time that we have and ‘make the most of it’. Because, who knows what may lie ahead for us or our loved ones.
As we close out our first year and begin our second year of operation, we give thanks to the many faces that shared with us their ‘precious memories’.
